“Using Index as a container, exhibition space and story telling device, the pages that follow have been edited to create pairs or combinations of images that can be read as new narratives. The book is an experimental exchange of out-of-context, repurposed text and image.”Café Royal Books.

I have some work in the Café Royal Books Index 2014 project. The launch is on Tuesday 1 April 2014 at the Hanover Project, University of Central Lancashire, Preston. The project is supported by CADG, the Contemporary Arts Development Group.

Reading Mike Davis’s City of Quartz and Iain Borden’s Skateboarding, Space and the City lead me to publish Anti-Skateboarding Devices in 2012. To see the second edition (along with Writers) on display with these books at Foyles last week was a pretty damn special moment.

“The physical space of most American and some European cities is becoming privatised. And in the process of this privatisation, deviants who defy defensive architecture are prohibited, demonised and excluded. A class war is being fought, at the level of space. Along with this recapitulation of space goes an extensive iconography; a semiotics of exclusion which is spreading…”Mike Davis, City of Quartz.

The second edition of my Anti-Skateboarding Devices zine is now available buy online via Big Cartel.
