Context: In 2003 Marc Vallée started to document political protest and dissent. Marc’s pictures soon became documents from the frontline of people who take to the streets in the name of a cause. From the student protests over fees, to climate change and oil wars Marc has photographed them all and a lot more in between. All backed up by meticulous research.

An unexpected offshoot from this project was the need to document and campaign against the state targeting of photographers. Marc also went on to co-author major front page investigations for the Guardian and the Financial Times that exposed the nature and character of state targeting. Both those who dissent and also those who document them.
